Upward Bound

The Upward Bound program is designed to provide fundamental support to first-generation and income-eligible students in their preparation for college entrance. The goal of the program is to increase the rate at which participants complete secondary education and enroll in and graduate from institutions of postsecondary education. The Upward Bound program at IUPUI provides a wide variety of services and activities to students attending the target schools. Some of the services provided include academic support, such as tutoring and mentoring, college entrance preparation, college visits, cultural activities, and enrichment programs designed to not only engage students but the parents of participants as well. In addition, Upward Bound participants also have the opportunity to participate in a summer residential component and internships for seniors. These summer programs are designed to provide the skills, knowledge, and abilities needed to successfully facilitate a successful transition from secondary to postsecondary education for participants.
